Apple ipad air. this is just it

Apple has launched another sophisticated tablet iPad air

After spending several minutes too long seemingly justifying the existence of the iPad with statistics and defensiveness — including a video showing what the iPad is used for in reality, Cook finally made the big announcement. Well, Phil Schiller did. So, the iPad Air is finally revealed. Thinner, lighter and more powerful than ever before. After that hard sell though, are we more convinced that the iPad is the only tablet device we should be caring about? Was the commercial really necessary at Apple's own press event?

iPad Air specifications

7.5mm down from 9.4mm. 20 percent thinner.
9.7-inch Retina Display with narrower side bezel. 43 percent thinner.
Lightest iPad ever at only one pound.
A7 chip, same as the iPhone 5S. 64-bit, and comes with M7 motion coprocessor.
72x faster than the original iPad in GPU performance.
10 Hours battery life.
Comes in silver, white and space gray. No gold. Price starts at $499 for 16GB WiFi Retina Display and ships November 1st.
Apple wasn't done with iPad news. He went on to the iPad Mini. The new mini runs retina display (finally) and also carries the A7 chip. Additionally, MIMO Wi-Fi support, extended LTE bands, $399 for 16GB and also will be available in November. Apparently, the original iPad Mini and the iPad 2 will be sticking around. The only reason to keep these products around at the price points (below) will be to pressure people into buying the new ones as a basis for comparison.

Aside from the iPad news, Apple has decided the price of their new operating system will be free. That's right, OS X Mavericks will be free. While some made a quick comparison to Windows products and their high costs for operating system upgrades, in the end it all balances out due to the prices of the hardware. You'll pay a lot more for a Macbook Air than you would an Acer Windows laptop. Either way, there is going to be some cost associated somewhere. However, offering an operating system update for free is a good way to retain customers who may have had frustrations with the previous operating system

ASUU STRIKE UPDATE

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) on Friday barricaded the Asaba axis of the Niger Bridge for more than two hours.

The action, which was jointly carried out by some university students and their polytechnic counterparts was in protest of the protracted strike by ASUU.

The aggrieved students blocked the bridge at about 1 p.m., which resulted to a traffic gridlock that stretched from the bridge to Okwe junction about five kilometres to Asaba town.

They also lamented the recent decisions of polytechnic lecturers under the auspices of ASUP to also embark on a similar strike, saying it would further cripple the education sector and send a wrong signal to the international community.

NANS National Public Relations Officer, Victor Ola-Ogun, said that the students were tired of the strike and appealed to ASUU to call it off.

He said that the students had embarked on the peaceful protest and taken it to Kano and "now they are in Zone B, that is Delta and the Anambra area of the country.''

He said that if the lecturers refuse to call off the strike, the association would further move the protest to Zone C and D, comprising the middle Belt areas and South West of the country.

"We do not want a situation where our ladies will become prostitutes and the men armed robbers.

"We are always there to fight for the lecturers' welfare and now that the Federal Government has decided to meet some of their demands, they should consider for our sake and go back to work,'' Ola-Ogun said.

The students, which were drawn from different parts of the country, came in large number. They will leave Delta to their various destinations on Saturday.

MAN THAT BLEEDS WITH HIS EYES. COULD HE BE A VAMPIRE?

The condition facing a man in Antioch, Tenn., can only be summed up as bloody strange.

Seven years ago, blood began pouring out of Michael Spann’s eyes, ears, mouth and nose on a daily basis.

These days, the plasma only pours out a few times a week, but the condition remains painful, debilitating and unexplained, Newser.com reported.

Spann has tried to work, but his bleeding presents challenges that go beyond typical disabilities.

“Any job I get I lose because my eyes start bleeding and they can’t keep me on,” Spann told The Tennessean, “Obviously, I can’t be a waiter and work in any public thing because you are bleeding.”

He won’t even allow the bleeding to be photographed.

Spann’s mother, Peggy, says whenever he’s talking to someone new, his eyes will start filling up with blood.

“They haven’t seen it before, and it will scare the living daylights out of them,” she told the paper. “It is very frustrating not to be able to treat or even get some kind of remission for it.”

Memphis-based ophthalmologist Dr. James “Chris” Fleming said determining the exact cause is difficult because the exploratory procedures might cause more harm than good, he said.

“There probably is a cause, but it is a small tear duct that is only a millimeter or two or three in diameter,” Fleming said, according to WTSP.com. “It’s a tube. To get into that tube and examine that tube from one end to the other would cause scarring, and you could lose part of the tear duct.”

Doctors haven’t diagnosed Spann, but earlier this year, Yaritza Oliva, a 20-year-old Chilean woman, reported crying blood as well.

Doctors suspected she suffered from haemolacria, a physical condition that causes a person to produce tears that are partially composed of blood.

Haemolacria isn’t the only cause of bleeding eyeballs, though.

In March, a Canadian man started weeping tears of blood after suffering a potentially-deadly snake bite in Costa Rica. The bleeding stopped after he received antidote to the venom.

UPDATE ON GULDER ULTIMATE SEARCH 10 EP 14

http//mfyldconceptube.com/watch?v=3enaq05icgY&feature=c4-overview&list=UUuieCUEfIsd1rc-x_VZ_wvg
The Council of Elders sent word to each tribe to come to the battle ground with their choicest possessions for the day’s challenge, which was: The Sacrifice.

The core of the task was transporting oranges from a basket placed on a table to another basket hanging on a tree. The task was broken into phases. For phase one, members of each tribe had to answer a riddle, the answer to which the leader would whisper to Chidi Mokeme.

After answering correctly, the tribe would proceed to locate a machete using coordinates. When found, the machete would be used to bring down a bag of oranges into a basket.

These oranges would be transported from the basket, through an obstacle into the basket hanging on a tree, one orange at a time. The team that transports all their oranges before the other wins.

The Swords got the answer to the riddle before the Spears; but the Spears found the machete long before the Swords and began transporting their oranges. Martha could not just climb the tree, an opportunity the Swords cashed in on to claim victory.

As their reward, the Swords were asked to pick any item of choice from the precious items the Spears brought to the task area. The Swords acquired the Spears’ blankets.

ASUU REJECTS THE 600BILLION NAIRA FROM FED GOVT

Despite continued efforts and promises of more financing made by the Federal Government, striking lecturers under the aegis of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) have refused to budge.

According to reports, despite a meeting to seek resolution yesterday, the lecturers insisted that the three-month-old strike would go on.

The Nation reports:

More cash has been pledged for projects on the campuses. Besides, the earned allowances due to the teachers have been increased from the initial N30 billion offer, which the  rejected. The teachers are insisting on the 2009 agreement, which they say President Goodluck Jonathan was part of. Besides, they say, they do not trust the government.

According to a circular by the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Otuoke, Bayelsa State, Prof. Bolaji Aluko, to the staff of the school, quoted yesterday by the news website, Sahara Reporters, the government has pledged to spend N200 billion on the universities in the 2014 budget and the same amount annually for the next three to four years.

This is in addition to the N100 billion already made available this year, but which ASUU has rejected.

The government has also increased to N40 billion, as a first installment, funds for the payment of earned allowances to the striking lecturers – an improvement from the N30 billion previously released.

On the earned allowances, Aluko said: “Government will top it up with further releases once universities are through with the disbursement of this new figure of N40 million. So, Vice-Chancellors are urged to expedite this disbursement within the shortest possible time using guiding templates that have been sent by the CVC,” the circular said.

Aluko said the latest development followed meetings on September 19 and Oct 11 of representatives of the Association of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities, led by its Chairman, Prof. Hamisu of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) and ASUU representatives led by its President, Dr. Nasir Fagge, with Vice-President Namadi Sambo and Minister of Education Nyesome Wike.

A source in the Ministry of Education last night also confirmed that the meeting took place.

“But the government decided to leave the announcement of the decision to the ASUU chiefs,” the source said.

It was gathered that Sambo urged ASUU to call off the strike, as he apologised for the “take-it-or-leave-it” comments credited to Minister of Finance Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala at the beginning of the strike. The Minister did not seem to have been involved in either meeting, perhaps as the government’s way of soothing the feelings of the university teachers.

WIZKID HAILS SESAN'S WORKS ON THE RELEASED SKELEWU VIDEO

The singer tweeted on his timeline that the music video which Ogunro shot for his single ’Jaiye Jaiye’ sometime in September was the bomb, in other words giving him  full backing.

Chester Pitts II and Ephraim Salaam talk 'The Amazing Race' (Part 1)

The "Former NFL Teammates" became the third team eliminated from the around-the-world competition after they arrived at the Race's third Pit Stop at Castelo Dos Mouros, a ninth century castle, in Lisbon, Portugal, in last place. The pair encountered nothing but problems when it came to booking flights and delayed connecting flights.

During an exclusive interview with Reality TV World on Monday, Chester and Ephraim talked about their The Amazing Race experience and devastating elimination. Below is the first half of the interview. Check back with us on Wednesday for the concluding portion.

Reality TV World: What time did your final flight actually land when you met Phil Keoghan? How far do you think you were behind the pack at that point?

Ephraim Salaam: We got there the next morning, so it was early the next morning. It was already the next day, so we got there almost a day behind everyone else when they arrived -- when that first team arrived in the Lisbon airport. We got there almost a day behind them, so it was pretty tragic.

Reality TV World: Did it worsen the blow of your elimination considering you guys actually started out the leg in first place?

Chester Pitts II: So, (laughs) we obviously had a lot of time to talk this out and regroup when we were behind like 24 hours. In our conversation, we weighed out all the options: What can we do? What's going to happen? What's it going to turn into? -- And at the end of the day, we just had to resolve to know that there are certain things in life that you can't control.

And there are certain things that you can, and we were truly in a tragic situation where there was nothing we could do to better than what we did. We ran around four airports in four countries for 24 hours straight trying to get to Portugal as fast as we could. So we just knew it was what it was, there was nothing more we could do.

Reality TV World: So did it make your elimination a little easier or harder given the fact you basically got eliminated due to a mistake the travel agent made and it was out of your hands?

Ephraim Salaam: It's never easy to get eliminated from anything whether it's your fault or someone else's. It's harder when it's not your fault. When you get eliminated from your own actions, you can deal with it because you did it yourself! [If] that was something where we made a mistake, you can deal with that.

But if it's out of your control, you kind of talk it up like, "Look," -- you'd use the "if" word a lot -- if we would've gotten there, if we would've done that, because everything is such a great unknown. And that's a bad feeling.

I just, you know, I want people to really know that being trapped in that airport -- if you're traveling internationally and you get stuck caught in transition, when you go from one country to the next country and you don't have the proper payment, paperwork, to go outside of the transition area to go out where the gates are, then you can't buy tickets. They don't sell tickets inside the airport, inside the concourse.

Like in America, you can go to the Delta counter and buy a ticket or American Airlines and buy a ticket at the counter. In the concourse. You can't do that anywhere else in the world. So once you're stuck in there, you're stuck, like there's no way you can get out and buy tickets, because there's no place for you to buy a ticket from!

Reality TV World: When you guys got off that final flight, you were really hustling and telling each other, "Let's go, let's go!" But then you saw Phil moments later. So did you actually have any hope you could survive the leg? What was going through your minds at that point?

Chester Pitts II: Yeah, we had plenty of time to talk about this. At the end of the day, one thing Ephraim and I -- we made a pact. We had a plan that no matter what happens, we were going to be and stay true to who we are. And nothing else.

We weren't quitters; We were always fighters. So, you know, at the end of the day, until we were told otherwise, we were going to run the Race exactly the same way we would've run the Race if we would've gotten there 15 hours sooner. It didn't matter.

Reality TV World: Do you have any explanation how that miscommunication could've possibly happened to begin with between you guys and the female travel agent that booked you on a flight the next day?

Ephraim Salaam: I got it. We got there literally 40 minutes before the next team did, so we were in that travel agency for a long time. We gave the young lady our information of what we needed to do, and she typed it in wrong. She caught it because it wouldn't let her buy the tickets.

So instead of her just clearing out the system and starting over, she decided that she wanted to call the airlines and do it over the phone. And they just kept her on hold! We kept asking her, "Is everything okay?" And she kept smiling and giving us the thumbs-up. So for 30 minutes, she just kept smiling and giving us the thumbs-up -- smiling and getting eye-winks from her too.

Chester Pitts II: Oh yeah, like for intents and purposes, we thought we were on the flight because she gave us the "A-okay." She said everything was good, everything was great.

And then when the bearded bros [Brandon Squyres and Adam Switzer] came in as the second team and sat down, their guy told them, "Hey, there's no more flights." Because they asked to be on our flight and their guy said, "Hey, there's no more seats. There were only two seats available," so they didn't even look! They didn't even look at that flight.

That's how assured everyone in there was, and the lady -- when [Nicole Jasper and Travis Jasper] came in, she just looked for the earliest flight and then the flight that we were supposed to be on popped up, because the lady was still on the telephone trying to switch it instead of just clearing out the system and doing it all over again.

Reality TV World: So just to make sure, you guys didn't have to complete any of the leg's tasks, is that correct? I think the only time Phil's met a team like that in the past was when he had to head to the next Pit Stop because so much time had elapsed.

Ephraim Salaam: Yeah, we never did anything. We didn't even know what the challenges were.

Chester Pitts II: We got to see the baggage claim! It was a really nice baggage claim though. (Laughs)

Reality TV World: (Laughs) Oh my gosh, that's terrible. So did it completely surprise you guys to see Phil at the airport? As I said, most of the time, teams would still have to complete all the leg's tasks before being able to check-in regardless of how far behind the other teams they are.

Ephraim Salaam: If you look at Chester's reaction, he was like, "Oh man, this is not good." I mean, that was classic. (Laughs) We knew something had gone horribly wrong seeing him that early in the airport. We were still holding out hope, and then we saw him, and it was all just destroyed.

Chester Pitts II: Yeah.

Above is the first half of Chester and Ephraim's exclusive interview with Reality TV World to be continued  later. Stay tuned

The Biggest Loser' trainer Dolvett Quince talks about fifteenth season

The Biggest Loser's fifteenth season premieres Tuesday night with a one-hour episode at 8PM ET/PT

In a new twist, returning trainers Dolvett Quince, Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels not only got to assist in the casting process, but they'll also have the opportunity to save one contestant from elimination during the season.

Alison Sweeney will be reprising her role as host next season, which will feature the theme of "second chances." Second-season American Idol winner Ruben Studdard, for example, is the season's heaviest contestant at 462 pounds and will be looking to "reclaim his health and re-write his future" along with the other 14 players -- who will all compete for a $250,000 grand prize.

During a recent conference call with Reality TV World, Dolvett talked about the upcoming season and Ruben's participation. Below is what he had to say.

Check back with Reality TV World soon for separate interviews with The Biggest Loser executive producer Lisa Hennessy and Ruben Studdard.

In terms of the new twist introduced in which each trainer can save one contestant from elimination this season, was that decision stressful for you and did it weigh on you throughout the season? Also, did you almost feel like it changed your relationship with any of the contestants in that maybe they tried to suck up to you a little more than normal or something?

Dolvett Quince: Well for me, it was a bittersweet gift, you know? It was one that I was -- I felt empowered. Okay, if I see an opportunity where I can save someone, I can spend more time with them, that's great.

But then on the other hand, I thought, "What if I don't use it on that person and really save it for that person over there who's really trying, who I know really needs it and struggles?" So you really know week to week where the chips will fall. So yes, it was bittersweet. It was difficult for me, but I felt when I did use it and I had to use it, I made the right decision [looking at the] big picture.

Since the trainers were involved in casting this season, I was wondering if you could talk a little bit about what it was about Ruben Studdard that made you want to choose him to be a part of the show's cast this season?

Dolvett Quince: I think that was Ruben's decision. I think like everyone on every season that we have, we have individuals who submit to say, "Okay. I've struggled with this long enough," and they realize that The Biggest Loser is a place that they can get extreme help. I think it was a decision on Ruben's part -- for himself to get healthy.

Choosing Ruben was a no-brainer for me. Not only am I just a fan of his, but just in general, I knew that I could help him find his way. I think it was a good fit for me, it was a good fit for him, and I'd do it all over again.

Dolvett, I know you've worked with some pretty big-named celebrities in the past. How was it working with Ruben and was it a completely different experience because he was kind of on a level playing field with everyone else?

Dolvett Quince: You know, for me it was great. I made the decisions. You know, Ruben is a great guy and it took me a couple of weeks to convince him mentally that he should be on the ranch and that he can do the things that he -- I know he could do.

The difference from the perspective of working with different celebrities is that I went to celebrities as opposed to them being isolated to me. So I think something very key is, I think it was a hard adjustment for him -- not being able to talk to his family and do some of the things that he knew would boost his spirit and give him energy to go on to the next thing.

And I think when you isolate someone on the ranch the way we do, it makes the experience difficult for that person. I enjoyed training him, however, I definitely ran into obstacles. Is that fair?

Since this is the first time in the show's history that trainers sat in on the casting sessions, I wanted to ask you, what did you look for when choosing contestants?

Dolvett Quince: That's a good question. I looked for, I guess, authenticity -- people that didn't just talk to you but you could see it in their eyes that they were ready and they wanted to actually move.

They wanted to make a difference. I looked for compelling stories. You know, as a dad, as a parent, I looked for people who not only struggled with their own issues but it spilled over into their families. You know, things like that were things I looked for.

I noticed that some people are in the food business like a cake decorator. I mean, that creates additional challenges, I imagine, for them. Is there ever a time when you suggest to someone, "You may want to consider a different occupation?" And when you're in that line of work, how do you cope with being able to maintain weight-loss and that sort of thing?

Dolvett Quince: I think people are inspired to make choices and make changes because they understand quality control and portion control. [They'll use] some knowledge in their recipes. For example, they would use sugar. You know, they can substitute things and make better choices and then switch their whole menu out and cater to a new audience. So there's options out there to always improve.

What would you say to people -- as you know, thousands of people try out for the show all the time -- who are critical of the fact you're putting a celebrity on the show over an everyday person, like say, a housewife who would love to take advantage of such an opportunity? Because Ruben is a celebrity, he was fast-tracked in the casting process although he could probably afford special training outside of the show unlike the average joe.

Dolvett Quince: You know, it is a process for each individual to be a part of this show. That said, you know, there is not only medical approval, there's psychological approval and then physical approval.

Everyone has to meet a certain criteria in order to get on this show. So it takes different steps for one person to even qualify to see us as trainers. So just because someone wants to be a part of this show doesn't necessarily mean that they qualify for the show or they're ready for the show.

Does a celebrity contestant need anything different from a trainer than an average joe would require or request?

Dolvett Quince: That's a good question. You know what? There are differences. An average person can sometimes, you know, walk into a scenario where they're ready. They're like, "I have nothing to lose. Let me go." A celebrity who has a lot of responsibilities on a daily basis may have to be humbled from the perspective of "trust this process."

But I think with that said, I've encountered it from regular people as well. You know, I think we all face our obstacles and we come across what we know and what we don't know, and sometimes, it can get in the way of my job. So there's more similarities than not. I'll put it that way. There's more similarities than not.

What do you think Ruben took away from the experience that he could utilize once he got home, especially considering he's Southern and is surrounded with all that fried chicken and biscuits, etc?

Dolvett Quince: You know, I think Ruben has learned that that's what lifestyle's all about. That's what we try to preach on the ranch or teach on the ranch with every contestant. It's about having balance. We don't believe in deprivation. I know as a trainer, that's the [last] thing I believe in. I believe in having balance, but you always want to lean towards clean no matter what.

I think it's very powerful how The Biggest Loser sticks a number on somebody and makes them realize, "I weigh this many pounds," as opposed to, "Oh, gee, I need to lose some weight." How does that affect the journey on the show for the contestants if the numbers are out there getting waved in front of the world?

Dolvett Quince: The reality is right there in your face. You're forced to look at yourself. Often times both men and women can confess, "Well, you know, I had no idea I weighed that much." You know, "I realized I was kind of soft." But you know, many people are scared to get on the scale and they hide their physique with clothes.

But when you're forced to look at the exact number of what you weigh, you're forced to pay attention to your habits. You're forced to have that reside in your head. So yes, it's a huge impact and we do it purposefully... It gives you a goal.

Are you surprised, Dolvett, that after numerous seasons of The Biggest Loser, we still have this obesity problem in the country? You would think with the contestants who have been on the show and the numerous viewers that have watched, that we would be making, you know, monumental changes throughout the country with our eating habits.

Dolvett Quince: I think that obesity is still in existence because of lack of education. I think one of the most common denominators on the ranch, and in the world in general, is that people are uneducated on portion control. They're uneducated on quality foods. Often times, people say things like, "Well, I'm just going to have a little bit of this and it shouldn't do any harm," and then a little bit becomes a lot.

I think habits trickle down, so getting to the homes of Americans and teaching each individual, "No, this actually isn't good for you and these are the reasons why..." Education is key. The more we can educate families, the more you can educate individuals and then take it into their homes. I think we have to get the problem at the core.

Then we need the support from government. We need the support from legislation to take and remove away certain pesticides and products and high-caloric ingredients in foods -- remove them in their entirety from the agricultural system and we can win on that front as well. You do those things and you can watch the percentages decrease in years to come.

We did a very important show last season, working with childhood obesity. It's affecting our children now because children don't have access to quality foods, and access is key. Education is key. So yes, the problem -- we're just chipping at the surface unfortunately.

How do you help people with nutrition who have food allergies? I mean, allergies to the healthy stuff. For example, I cannot eat nuts and you guys are always telling people to snack healthily on almonds or other nuts. How do you address that for those people who want to make healthy lifestyle changes.

Dolvett Quince: I wish we had enough time to address every individual issue on this show, but because we're doing 15 people with three trainers, we don't necessarily address key things like that. But however, we do incorporate education on food and we're getting more involved in portion control, to answer your question.

But knowing what to swap out, everything from The Biggest Loser recipe books and swapping out options, they exist. They're there. They're online. They're on our services. We provide you with information. What you don't see on the show, you can definitely get from our brand on BiggestLoser.com as well as the books that we provide.

Things like if you can't eat nuts, you can still get a crunch from kale chips, for example, that are seasoned. So it's just about finding what works for your taste buds, but also there's a tremendous amount of other options out there.

It appears like in the first episode, Jillian makes a comment about Ruben's back hair. How did you feel about it?

Dolvett Quince: Listen. Listen. There's chest hair and there's Chia Pet, okay? You'll definitely have to watch that episode [to see if Jillian gets her way].

THE VOICE DETERMINED 9 OF ITS 32 KNOCKOUT ROUND SEMIFINALISTS

The Voice determined nine of its 32 "knockout" round semifinalists during Monday night's broadcast of the NBC reality singing competition's fifth season.

The Voice coaches Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green, and Blake Shelton each began whittling down their fifth-season teams from 12 to eight artists with the start of the season's "battle" rounds.

Amber Nicole, Jacquie Lee, Caroline Pennell, Grey, Tessanne Chin, and Shelbie Z. advanced to The Voice's "knockout" round.

Amber, Jacquie, Caroline, Grey, Tessanne, and Shelbie moved forward in the competition after they won their respective "battle" round face-offs against fellow contestants Timyra-Joi, Briana Cuoco, Anthony Paul, Nic Hawk, Donna Allen, and Justin Chain respectively.

The artists squared off in the "battle" rounds after The Voice coaches each selected two members of his or her individual singing team to perform a duet performance that would end with the coach eliminating one of the singers from the competition.

However, similar to previous seasons, each coach is allowed two "steals" all season in which two losing face-off contestants may be added to a different coach's original six-member team of "battle" round winners.

During Monday night's broadcast, three contestants were stolen: Briana, Anthony and Nic.

Adam matched up Grey and Nic, requiring them to sing "Domino" by Jessie J. Nic was stolen by Blake.

Adam also paired Donna and Tessanne, who then performed a duet of "Next To Me" by Emelie Sane.

Justin and Shelbie were selected by Blake and assigned "Don't You Wanna Stay" by Jason Aldean featuring Kelly Clarkson for their "battle" round.

Anthony and Caroline were paired by Cee Lo and required to perform "As Long As You Love Me" by Justin Bieber. Anthony was stolen by Christina.

Amber and Timyra-Joi were matched up by Christina and given the song "Listen" by Beyonce to sing.

Christina also paired Briana and Jacquie and then had them perform "House Of The Rising Sun" by The Animals. Briana was stolen by Blake.

The Voice's fifth-season "battle" round will continue during Tuesday night's broadcast on NBC.
